SPORTS REHABILITATION

Rebuild capacity.
Return to your sport.

A structured pathway from symptom management to a progressive return to running, court sports and training.

HOW WE THINK

Sports rehabilitation is not only about reducing symptoms in the short term. We consider how the problem began, changes in training, movement capacity and recovery response to understand the relationship between current capacity and sporting demands. Progress is checked against relevant tasks rather than a fixed timeline.

WHO IT IS FOR

Understand the question,
then choose the approach.

  • Pain, weakness or reduced performance during running, court sports, gym or outdoor activity
  • Instability or reduced confidence involving the ankle, knee, hip, back, shoulder, elbow or wrist
  • Repeated problems or difficulty trusting the body after returning to activity
  • A goal of returning to training or competition through a measured progression

A CLEAR PATH

01

ASSESS

Discuss the onset, training load and goals; assess strength, mobility, control and relevant sport tasks.

02

REBUILD

Use exercise therapy and progressive training to address relevant individual and whole-body capacity.

03

REASSESS

Review running, jumping, direction changes or other relevant tasks and adjust progression accordingly.

PROCESS, REASSESSMENT & EVIDENCE

A clear process.
Progress reviewed over time.

Rehabilitation is a process that should be explained, reviewed and adapted as relevant findings change.

FAQ · COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions worth
answering clearly.

Can I keep exercising if it hurts?

Sometimes modified activity can be maintained, but the type, intensity, frequency and recovery time may need adjustment. Severe acute injury should be assessed medically first.

When can I return to sport?

Timing depends on the condition, medical considerations, relevant function, sport demands and your response. A fixed number of days is not the only criterion.

What is usually included in an initial assessment?

It commonly includes a discussion of your history and goals, physical and movement examination, relevant functional measures, an explanation of the findings and a staged plan. The exact assessment is adapted to the individual.

How many rehabilitation visits will I need?

There is no fixed number that suits everyone. The condition, how long it has been present, everyday demands, recovery, training and personal goals all matter. Progress is reviewed and the plan adjusted over time.

What should I bring to an appointment?

If available, bring relevant imaging and reports, surgical records, medical guidance and any support you use. Wear clothing that allows you to move comfortably. You can still contact the team if you do not have these documents.

What approaches may be used?

Depending on the assessment, care may include exercise therapy, task practice, load adjustment, education and appropriate physiotherapy. The method serves the goal; the same intervention is not assumed for everyone.
